![]() Tunechi’s subsequent albums ( Lights Out and 500 Degreez) failed to reach the level of success of his first but were certified gold. Lil Wayne’s first studio album, Tha Block Is Hot, debuted at number three on the Billboard Hot 200 chart and was certified platinum when he was just 17 years old. They would release one project, Get It How U Live!, before Wayne signed a solo recording deal with the label in 1998. From there, the duo became part of the label’s quartet Hot Boyz, along with Juvenile and Young Turk. In 1995, Wayne joined the label as one half of the group B.G.’z. From that point on, Baby became Weezy’s mentor and father figure (and eventually his boss after signing him to Cash Money). At just 11 years old, Wayne met Bryan “Baby” Williams (Birdman), rapper and co-owner of Cash Money Records at a local record store. Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., known to most of us as Lil Wayne, was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.
